And what about those awkward moments of silence? You know...the ones where the conversation just dies right in front of you? Don't you just hate that?

And when you throw out your "conversation bait", make sure you follow the four main rules below:
Rule 1: Give them the headline
When tossing out a piece of conversation bait, just give the the headline. You don't want to ramble on for 10 minutes and then see if they are interested.
No. Just toss out the first sentence or two.
Rule 2: If no one bites, leave the bait
Remember that different fish like different bait. If you toss out something that they aren't interested in, just let the bait drift away.
There is nothing more pathetic than a person who keeps trying to bring up the same topic over and over in a conversation...especially when everyone has already turned that topic down many times.
Rule 3: Keep tossing different bait until someone bites
People are into many different things. You never know what pieces of conversation bait will be tasty to them.
Make sure to have a few topics in your back pocket ready to go that you can toss out.
Rule 4: Use conversation bait to sniff out fellow peeps
When a person picks up your bait, they are signaling that they now your world.
Every time you toss out jargon or other special language that only a fellow peep would know. Anyone who takes the bait will be a perfect fish. You will already have something in common with them.
